REGISTRATION ENDS FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 14TH!
The Center for Adoption Support and Education presents our 18th Annual KAN Conference, "The Harmony in Adoption". This theme will compare the diversity of instruments in a band or orchestra to the diversity of members that create a family. We invite adopted children 1st-12th grades and their parents to participate in this full-day event!
We have invited Nyame Nti Cultural Healing Arts Therapy (N-CHAT) to facilitate a drumming circle for the children and teens. After an introduction to the various percussive instruments that will be used emphasizing the importance and purpose of drum, dance, and song in African societies, the kids will PLAY! Each child/teen will add her/his unique rhythmic voice to the base rhythm that is offered.
Remember your home study...that interesting, sometimes uncomfortable, often strange-feeling process of proving yourself capable of adopting a child? Remember the section in the report that addressed your understanding of Adoption/Parenting? You needed to convince your social worker (and maybe yourself!) that you understood and were prepared to carry out the unique aspects of parenting an adopted child. Now that you are in the trenches, how is it going? C.A.S.E. is pleased to have Lynne White Dixon, adoption expert, return to this year's KAN Conference to explore and help participants delve into the complexities of adoptive parenting.
