Magic Loop

Tired of using double-pointed needles?  Or just want to skip learning how to use them altogether and start knitting in the round?  Learn how to use the Magic Loop technique, and just use one circular needle instead! This popular knitting technique can be used to completely replace your use of double-pointed needles when knitting small diameter projects such as hats, mittens, socks, and sweater sleeves.
In this class with Echo, students will learn how to cast on and join the Magic Loop and how to knit with the Magic Loop.  Student will also learn a bit about the history of knitting in the round and knitting needles.
Bring a hat pattern you want to begin, yarn, and a set of 40-inch circular needles in the correct size, and Echo will have you casting on and knitting your hat using the Magic Loop technique in no time.  Don't have a hat pattern ready to roll?  No problem!  Students will also receive a basic knitted hat pattern as a part of this class.  If you'd like to knit the basic hat (as pictured in the photo above), you will need:
  • one set of size 7, 40-inch circular knitting needles (if you are a tight knitter, use size 8 instead)
  • 200 yards of worsted weight yarn (Painted Sky from Knitting Fever is used for the hat in the photo)
  • 5 stitch markers
Skills needed:  students should already know how to cast on, cast off, knit and purl.
Date & Time:  3/23, 2:30-4:00
Cost:  $35
