Vida's Ark Hilarity Benefitting Charity

(18 and over event)

Join us for a night of hilarity as you support one of Vancouver's most beloved charities - Vida's Ark!

You will be wittingly entertained by three of Portland's most hilarious comics - Amy Miller, Bri Pruett, and Virginia Jones.  Hosted by Shannan Hunt.

Amy Miller gets on stage to tell jokes and you’re all like well she doesn’t look funny at ALL. I hope she doesn’t blow this! Maybe I should go for a smoke break? 2 minutes in, your pants have been charmed off by her rosy cheeks and the fact that she sounds like a 6 year old Asian boy. 5 minutes in, you start to feel sad for her and sometimes feel the need to go “AWWW” out loud in the middle of her set or, occasionally “YOU’RE ADORABLE.” 10 minutes in you’re not sure if you want to have wild sex with her or have her pretend to be your mom and tuck you into bed at night while lightly stroking your hair and singing You Are My Sunshine because she’s also an excellent singer. Any exposure above 15 minutes and your head is just a chaotic swirl of love feelings and a crippling fear of eventual heartbreak and rejection at the end of which you decide you should just be best friends. It’s fun!

Bri Pruett is a stand-up comic and improviser from Portland, Oregon.  She’s appeared at the Bridgetown Comedy Festival, the All Jane No Dick comedyy festival, the Seattle International Comedy Competition, San Francisco Sketch Fest and Bumbershoot.  She makes regular appearances at Helium Comedy Club, Curious Comedy Theater, and other Portland Showcases.

She’s a fierce ally of Action/Adventure Theater, a non-profit independent theater and black box venue in Southeast Portland.  She appeared in Action/Adventure’s celebrated, long-running, improvised serial: Fall of the House.  A/A also produced an original Sketch Show: Making Sex, which local press said Bri showed “razor sharp comic timing.”  Oh yeah.  She’s the comedy sidekick, writer, and co-creator of Late Night Action with Alex Falcone, a live, talk/variety show. Along with comedy buddies Alex Falcone, Curtis Cook and Anthony Lopez she is the power quartet behind weekly comedy showcase Earthquake Hurricane.

She has a background in improv and teaches these skills at Curious Comedy Theater where she’s a regular player with improv singing-ensemble: Pipes.

She frequently lends her time as a comedian and MC to several non-profit organizations: NARAL Pro-Choice Oregon, Planned Parenthood advocates of Oregon, and JOIN.  She’s also the regular host of the Museum Mash-up discussion series at The Portland Art Museum.

Bri is a monthly contributor to the ever popular Portland Mercury, Blogtown, USA, with her sex and dating column: Let’s Do It! with Bri Pruett.

Willamette Week named her one of the Funniest 5 Comedians in Portland.  Aw, thanks guys!

Virginia Jones started doing comedy in Portland, OR, where she was working as a bike-riding vegan cliche. She’s gone on to work in Hong Kong, LA, New York, London and Billings, Montana. She appears in Portlandia and has been in six Bridgetown comedy festivals, as well as Boston’s Women In Comedy Festival and Austin’s Ladies Are Funny Fest. She was a semifinalist in the San Francisco comedy competition and just toured the SURPRISE! comedy show up the West Coast. Her monthly, GLENDALIA, was applauded in the LA weekly, she has appeared on the famous LA shows Set List, Competitive Erotic Fan Fiction, and Big Money, and her mother is proud of her.
