March Workshop: Building an Online Newsroom

In 2012, Excelsior College launched Excelsior Life, an award-winning online newsroom, to raise public awareness of the college’s activities, enhance earned media efforts, and showcase the vibrancy of campus and academic life – characteristics not usually associated with a distance learning institution.

Join us for our next PRSA event as Mike Lesczinski, public relations manager for Excelsior College, discusses the development of Excelsior Life and outlines how your organization can create an engaging online newsroom, including:

• Identifying your mission.
• Building an easy-to-use, engaging news platform.
• Producing quality, relevant and diverse multimedia content.
• Distributing content to your targeted audiences.
• Leveraging content to earn media coverage.

In addition, Dave Kraus, owner, Kraus Graphic, and Lawrence Basso, motion design expert, Overit Media, will share insights into the production of quality photography and video. What types of content will media organizations accept from third-party organizations? What technical standards must you achieve to have your content accepted for publication?
