TESTIMONIAL

Thanks again for holding the Continuing the Legacy seminar series. I found the mini-series to be a unique opportunity to learn business specific skills that are not offered anywhere else. I’ve really never been to, or heard of anything like it. Besides learning about the planned topics, it was a great place to meet and hear from the other future business owner’s about their problems and solutions. I enjoyed the series and look forward to the follow up series. Thanks again!

4th Generation Future Leader

I was fortunate to be an attendee at Smith & Gesteland’s first “Continuing the Legacy” seminar.  I have a degree in science, and previously had not been exposed to any formal business-specific training.  No worries as the topics were presented by S&G in such a way that no business degree was required. Each speaker did an exceptional job breaking down the topics into palatable pieces all could understand, making them applicable to each business. The pace of change is ever increasing and the next generation must take advantage of every learning opportunity available.  Smith & Gesteland’s seminar series helped level off the learning curve for me.

Continuing the Legacy Seminar Series for the Emerging Leaders in Family Businesses

Series Two

This is the second in a series of seminars developed for emerging family business leaders. YOU NEED NOT HAVE taken the first series to attend these sessions.

We asked students in the first series what they wanted to see next. They asked for topics around RISK, GOVERNANCE, and CONFLICT RESOLUTION.

In our work with Family Businesses, we help the emerging leaders understand some business fundamentals. They may know all about their family's business, but lack knowledge of some business basics required to run an enterprise.

The series consists of FOUR SESSIONS. Participants are encouraged to attend all four as they are linked with a common theme.

Thursday, November 6th – How Bankers Think – the Inside Scoop

  1. Sources and Uses of funds and why it’s important
  2. Commercial Lending Made Easy:  Understanding Credit Risk Evaluation
  3. Look Before you Sign:  Understanding loan covenants, conditions and monitoring requirements
