Your Changing Clients: The Impact of Emerging Generations on Your Practice and Charitable Giving

For the last 30 years, the Depression Era, World War II and Post-War Generations have dominated the landscape. Most financial planning, estate planning and charitable giving tools and practices were designed to meet the needs of these generations, which collectively are known as Traditionalists. With the emergence of generations born post-1946 (Leading Boomers, Trailing Boomers, Gen X, Millennials, Boomerang) known as the New Philanthropists, dramatic changes in behavior require us to rethink how we approach them for planning purposes.

Please join us as Brian M. Sagrestano, JD, CFRE, co-author of the Philanthropic Planning Companion: The Fundraisers’ and Professional Advisors’ Guide to Charitable Gift Planning, shares the latest research on how this generational shift impacts your clients, and ultimately your practice.

Learning Objectives

At the conclusion of this session, you will:

  • Understand the behavior differences of generational cohorts and how they impact philanthropy
  • Be able to apply generational differences to your fundraising approaches with individuals
  • Have new tools to maximize revenue from existing prospects of all different generational cohorts
