Economics of the Film and Television Industry

What economic factors do television and film companies consider when selecting film and TV show locations? Why aren't Westerns filmed in Arizona anymore? In this highly engaging workshop, participants will learn how states like Georgia--now the #1 location for film and television production in the United States--as well as New Mexico, Utah and Nevada are using tax incentives, investments in infrastructure, increasing educational opportunities, and a friendly business atmosphere to change the landscape of the industry. Participants will also look at the broader national picture of film tax credits and how location decisions are made as well as the actual economic impact a major motion picture can have on a local area. The workshop includes access to all materials and lessons at no cost.
