About Us!

Who should attend?

The Annual Conference is intended for Pre-School, Pre-K, Transitional Kindergarten, Kindergarten and First Grade, Early Childhood, ESL, Bilingual, Head Start, Child Care Teachers and Administrators interested in the education of young children.

What is the Annual Conference?

Through lectures, workshops, discussions, demonstrations and exhibits, the conference aim is to present exemplary practices and materials to the early childhood education community while fostering a critical examination of a wide range of philosophical viewpoints.  It is produced by the Southern California Kindergarten Conference, Inc.

The Annual Conference consists of a Pre-Conference Workshop, a Bloggers' Bash, and a multi-day Conference with exhibitors.  Participants will enjoy tons of fun and motivation that will encourage you to return to the classroom with a multitude of ideas that you can implement immediately.

Choose from over 50 Sessions that focus on Common Core, Differentiated Instruction, Classroom Management, Music and Movement, Art, Assessment, ELD/Bilingual Education, Language Arts, Math, Science, Parent Education, Physical Education, Special Education/Inclusion, Technology, Social Studies, and Transitional Kindergarten.

Shop in the Exhibits for manipulatives, professional books, children’s books, computer hardware and software, science products, music products, art supplies, literacy products, learning games, and more!

Stroll through the Children’s Art Exhibit to gather ideas for art in your classroom, including paintings, collages, drawings, prints, class quilts, and murals!

Most importantly, you can expect to leave the conference with a renewed sense of why you love teaching and working with children.

Conference Information
 
Host/Hostess
Be a part of our team! Volunteer as a Host or Hostess and receive a hostess gift. Duties include greeting attendees, collecting tickets, distributing handouts, collecting evaluations and offering help and assistance to presenters. Volunteers will have a mandatory meeting on Friday at 3:00 pm. Check the appropriate box on the registration form to receive additional information.
 
Children's Art Exhibit
Be sure to visit our Children's Art Exhibit located in the Convention Center Lobby. This space will be transformed into an art gallery devoted to the wonderful selection of children's artwork representing schools throughout California. This collection has become a highlight of the conference. We encourage you to submit examples of your class projects! All contributors will be given a chance to win a $25 gift certificate.
 
Volunteers are needed to help with the on-site running of the conference. If you are interested in helping, please check the volunteer box on the registration form. If you volunteer, you get priority registration on the day of the conference! Volunteers who are not registered for the conference are also welcome, but will not be able to attend any sessions.
 
University Credit
Earn one (1) semester hour of university credit available through the University of San Diego. Course requirements include: Sign up and attend all six (6) sessions, complete a written project (as outlined) and attend three (3) informational and discussion meetings during the conference. Check the appropriate box on the registration form to reserve a space at the orientation meeting and receive additional information.
 
We are pleased to announce Teacher Awards up to $1,000 each and a paid registration for the 2015 conference. The purpose of the award is to encourage the professional development of early childhood educators and researchers and to benefit students ages four to seven. Our goal is to support teachers in their efforts to create and implement innovative applications of theory with sound, developmentally appropriate practices. The 2014 recipient will be presented with his/her award during the early morning session on Saturday, March 1, 2014, 7:30 am. If you are interested in applying for a Teacher Award, please download the guidelines and application at our website and submit by January 15, 2014.
