New Americans Expo 2016

Join the New Americans Expo 2016, an informative community fair that brings together more than 90 government agencies, nonprofits and local businesses, it's a celebration of immigrants and their contributions, with music and dancing from traditions around the world, as well as prizes and kids’ activities. Panels and workshops are included.

How do I find health care for my family? How can I get a better job? What about housing? Insurance? Financial planning?

Immigrants face daunting questions about life in this country, and it’s hard to know where to turn. That’s especially true in Montgomery County, where one of every three residents was born abroad.

“The New Americans Expo 2016 will help immigrants get the answers they need,” said organizer Cristina Frey. “This first-of-its kind event will bring together everyone — government agencies, nonprofits and private businesses — that offer services to immigrant communities and put them together under one roof so newcomers don’t have to feel so lost.”

The free event will include free health screenings and free talks with attorneys.

Organized in association with the Montgomery County Office of Community Partnerships, the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of Montgomery County and the nonprofit MiMadre.Org, the New Americans Expo will be a celebration of immigrants and their contributions, with music and dancing from traditions around the world, as well as prizes and kids’ activities.

The event will also include the presentation of the Inclusion Award to a nonprofit that has made a positive impact on its community and inspires others to foster and promote inclusion. The Program at the event include panels and workshops throughout the day on important issues to immigrant communities.

Sponsorship and vendor opportunities. Volunteers needed and SSL hours opportunities available.

The event takes place Sunday, Oct. 23 from 12-6 p.m., at the Civic Building in Silver Spring.
