Statement of Purpose:

This workshop will highlight ways in which we can empower our patients who may otherwise feel weakened by their traumatic experiences, while also providing comfort from a philosophical and spiritual standpoint.

Objectives:

  1. Assess the variables that differentiate one form/level of trauma and post-traumatic response from another, toward a tailor-made treatment plan.
  2. Learn to apply the central cognitive-behavioral interventions for overcoming trauma, including exposure methods, and cognitive restructuring.
  3. Amplify the benefits of the therapeutic relationship by creating a safe environment, providing accurate empathy, and being very attuned to the patient's limits and boundaries.
  4. Effectively combine cognitive-behavioral methods with a comforting philosophical and spiritual approach.
