Set At Liberty: Faith, Race, and the Sin of Mass Incarceration - Wednesday Workshops 

The Faith Summit, “To Set at Liberty: Faith, Race and the Sin of Mass Incarceration” is a collaborative effort led by the Kaleo Center to ignite, convene & equip 250 faith leaders to understand and lead their congregations and communities in addressing the racialized systems that prohibit African Americans from living productive and healthy lives.

Workshops Schedule:

8:30am – 9:00am Registration

9:00am – 9:45am Interfaith Gathering in the Bigelow Chapel

10:00am – 11:30am Concurrent Workshop Sessions

11:30pm – 1:30pm Lunch and plenary session

1:45pm – 3:15pm Repeat of morning sessions

3:15pm – 3:45pm Closing Session

  • Voting Rights Restoration 
  • Preaching on Mass Incarceration
  • Alternatives to Detention for Juveniles
  • Media skills for mass incarceration
  • Early Intervention: Building a Cradle to College Pipeline
  • Immigration and Mass incarceration
  • Black Lives Matter - what's happening and how to get involved
  • Organizing to create housing for formerly incarcerated people

Workshops offered by staff from organizations including United Theological Seminary of the Twin Cities, ISAIAH, TakeAction Minnesota, Jewish Community Action, and Juvenile Detention Alternatives Initiative, Northside Achievement Zone, Beacon Intefaith, Black Lives Matter, and more.
