A registered healthcare designer of over 10 years {formerly of NBBJ and Gensler}, Annette Klaus has a passion for elevating care experiences and improving outcomes throughout every step of the design process.   

At Steelcase Health, Annette focuses on the links between the built environment and organizational outcomes using human-centered design principles. She brings meaningful tools and research insights into projects to support creative problem-solving with proven sustainable solutions to improve experience, efficiency and longevity.

 

 

About the CEU: “FleXX: A Framework for Flexibility, Tested in Practice”

“Flexibility” is a buzz word today, but one full of both promise and confusion. As diverse stakeholders seek flexibility, many are asking: What exactly does flexibility mean? How does the desire for flexibility influence design? And is flexibility a real advantage? This session will delve into the results of a research study exploring the meaningful use of flexibility across multiple layers for facilities including site, structure, skin, services, space plan, and social areas. Presenters will share a framework to design for flexibility in outpatient environments and offer honest insights on how the framework, once applied, held up in high-level strategic planning and design.
