2017 Design Awards Professional Eligibility & Registration Information
PURPOSE:
To offer recognition and celebrate the outstanding achievements of our colleagues in the field of architecture and design.
ENTRY ELIGIBILITY:
- All submittals must be commissioned projects
- Entrant and Project Designer must be a Registered Architect or Interior Designer
- There are no restrictions as to project location or completion date.
ELIGIBLE PROJECTS:
- There are no limitations of category or of type of structure. Projects may be built or unbuilt.
- All projects are judged on a stand-alone merit basis. Each submission will be evaluated on the extent to which, in the Jury’s opinion, the Project achieved a well-designed solution to the program that defined the Project requirements.
- Non-building projects (Sculpture, Hardware, Fixtures, Furniture, etc.) may be submitted.
- Aspects of sustainability apply to every submission and will be taken into consideration accordingly.
AWARD CATEGORIES:
The Jury may award the following levels of recognition:
- Professional Gold Award
- Professional Silver Award
- Professional Bronze Award
- Professional Special Recognition Award
JURY:
The Jury will consist of a distingushed panel. All decisions of The Jury shall be final.
PUBLICITY:
All entries are accepted with the explicit free right of publication and use by the Society of American Registered Architects and its sponsors without need for further approval.
All submitted project boards will be on display at the 2017 Design Awards Reception.

Awards Reception ticket purchase forms to follow. Each entry includes (1) reduced-rate admission ticket to the awards Reception where winners will be announced. Presence is requested, but not required of entrants.
SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS:
Upon receipt of this Intent Form and applicable entry fees, you will receive an email containing submission instructions, data sheets & a project registration number. The instructions will include detailed directions regarding the preparation and submission of your project for judging. Below is a brief summary of the items that will be required:
- (1) digital submission (uploading instructions to follow in a separate email) containing a power point presentation with no more than (10) slides. The images on the slides shall include a site plan, floor plan(s), elevations, perspective rendering/s or photos showing the overall exterior design and at least (1) interior view.
- A Project statement of no more than 250 typewritten words describing (PDF & DOC):
- program requirements
- site
- structural or code requirements
- design solution
- material and system selection
- size (SF)
- cost/budget
- Along with the above, all entrants must send in (1) 24” x 36” foam core presentation board containing images and boards will be on display at the Awards Reception this fall.
- PLEASE NOTE: Included with your entry fee is (1) reduced-rate ticket for admission to the Awards Reception at Philadelphia University on October 26. The level of award received by winners will be announced at the Awards Reception.

FEES:
- SARA Members: $150 Per Entry
- Non-Members: $375 Per Entry
Registration is open to all SARA members and non-members. Non-members can take advantage of the SARA Member reduced entry fee by applying for membership in conjunction with the intent form. To apply for membership, please download, complete, and email the membership application form to: sara.pa.council@gmail.com
You must send your $175 introductory membership fee AND your entry fee in the same payment.
Intent Registration form and fees must be submitted by 5pm on Friday June 30th, 2017.
Projects must be submitted by 5pm on Friday August 11th, 2017.
Boards must be received by Friday August 25th, 2017.
Entrants may submit more than (1) project. Choose the appropriate number of entries and associated fees on the registration page. If more than (2) entries are desired, a separate registration form must be submitted with a unique email address. As an alternative, a mail-in form is available for download that can accommodate any quantity of entries.
