2016 design awards
                 STUDENT ELIGIBILITY & REGISTRATION INFORMATION

PURPOSE

To offer students an award for their excellent design work and a chance to win $500!

ENTRY ELEGIBILITY

  •  Student entrants must be actively enrolled in a NAAB-Accredited Architecture program in the United States.  Students may be enrolled in any year of study.  
  • There are no restrictions as to project program or completion date.

ELIGIBLE PROJECTS:

  • There are no limitations of category or type of structure.
  • All projects are judged on a stand-alone merit basis. Each submission will be evaluated on the extent to which, in the Jury’s opinion, the Project achieved an outstanding solution to the program that defined the Project requirements.
  • Non-building projects (Sculpture, Hardware, Fixtures, Furniture, etc.) may be submitted.
  • Aspects of sustainability apply to every submission and will be taken into consideration accordingly.

AWARD CATEGORIES

The Jury may award the following levels of recognition

  • Student Gold Award
  • Student Silver Award
  • Student Bronze Award
  • Student Special Recognition Award
The Jury may select more than one project for each award. Each project may only recieve one award.

JURY

The Jury will consist of current professional members of the SARA PA council.

PUBLICITY

All entries are accepted with the explicit free right of publication and use by the Society of American Registered Architects and its sponsors without need for further approval.

All projects will be on display at the Design Awards Reception.

The Kanbar Campus Center at Philadephia University

Each entry fee includes (1) admission ticket to the reception where winners will be announced.  Presence is requested, but not required of entrants.

SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS 

Upon receipt of this registration form, you will receive an email containing submission instructions, data sheets & a project registration number.  This information will include detailed directions regarding the preparation and submission of your project for judging.  Below is a brief summary of the items that will be required:

  • Entries are to be uploaded by 11:59p on October 19, 2016 (instructions to follow)
  • All entries are to contain no more than (2) boards (PDF only) and (1) typed description (PDF & DOC)
  • All boards are to be formatted as 24”x36” portrait or landscape orientation
  • Boards are to contain images and text of the project created by digital media, photos/scans of hand-drawn images, or photos of physical models
  • A written description of your entry in no more than (250) words that includes a Project Statement and your Design Intent. You should also include project requirements, constraints, concepts, solutions, and any other information that is relevant to judging your project (include both PDF & DOC files) 

All entrants are invited to attend the the Awards Reception on Wednesday October 26 @ The Kanbar Campus Center at Philadelphia University.  Award winners will be announced at the Design Awards Reception.

Note: All submitted projects will be printed and will be displayed at the Design Award Reception this fall.  Printing and related costs will be paid for by SARA PA Council. All printed boards will become the property of SARA PA Council.

Registration is open to all students currently enrolled in an NAAB Accredited Program.

Projects must be uploaded to SARA's Google Drive by 11:59p on Wednesday, October 19, 2016.

Entrants may submit more than one project.
