STUDENT ELIGIBILITY & REGISTRATION INFORMATION

PURPOSE

To offer recognition and celebrate the outstanding achievements of students studying Architecture.

ENTRY ELEGIBILITY

  •  Student entrants must be actively enrolled in a NAAB-Accredited Architecture program in the United States.  Students may be enrolled in any year of study.  
  • There are no restrictions as to project program or completion date.

ELIGIBLE PROJECTS:

  • There are no limitations of category or type of structure.
  • All projects are judged on a stand-alone merit basis. Each submission will be evaluated on the extent to which, in the Jury’s opinion, the Project achieved an outstanding solution to the program that defined the Project requirements.
  • Non-building projects (Sculpture, Hardware, Fixtures, Furniture, etc.) may be submitted.
  • Aspects of sustainability apply to every submission and will be taken into consideration accordingly.

AWARD CATEGORIES

The Jury may award the following levels of recognition

  • Award of Excellence
  • Honor Award
  • Merit Award
  • Special Recognition Award
The Jury may select more than one project for each award. Each project may only recieve one award.

JURY

The Jury will consist of practicing registered Architects who are current members of the SARA PA council.

PUBLICITY

All entries are accepted with the explicit free right of publication and use by the Society of American Registered Architects and its sponsors without need for further approval.

All projects will be on display at the Awards Reception in September.

Awards Reception ticket purchase forms to follow.  Each entry fee includes (1) admission ticket to the reception where winners will be announced.  Presence is requested, but not required of entrants.

SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS (submissions for judging must be postmarked by Wednesday, July 16th)

Upon receipt of registration form (or online registration) and payment of your applicable entry fees, you will receive an email containing submission instructions, data sheets & a project registration number.  This information will include detailed directions regarding the preparation and submission of your project for judging.  Below is a brief summary of the items that will be required:

  • Projects are to be submitted on 24” x 36” foam core board containing images and text of the project as either plotted from digital format or hand drawn. Project boards may be oriented landscape or portrait.
  • There is a maximum limit of (2) 24”x36” boards per entry.
  • A Project statement of no more than 250 typewritten words describing:   
                   -program requirements & constraints
                   -design concepts
                   -design solution
  • All submitted boards will be on display at the Awards Reception in September 2014.  

 PLEASE NOTE: included with your entry fee is (1) complimentary ticket for admission to the Awards Reception in September, where winners will be announced. Further details about the reception will be disclosed prior to the event

 Submitted drawing sheets will become the property of SARA PA and will not be returned to entrants.

  • SARA Members:  $15 Per Entry
  • Non-Members:    $55 Per Entry

Registration is open to all SARA members and non-members.  If you wish to take advantage of the reduced entry fees by applying for membership, please download, complete, and email the membership application form to:

You must submit your $25 introductory membership fee AND your registration fees in the same payment.

Deadline Has Been Extended!

 Registration form and fees must be submitted by Wednesday, June 18th.

Entrants may submit more than one project.  If registering online, choose the appropriate number of entries and associated fees on the registration page.  If more than 2 entries are desired, a separate registration form must be submitted with a unique email address.  As an alternative, a mail-in form is available for download HERE that can accommodate any quantity of entries.
