Walk the Walk with Global Grandmothers
Oakland's Lake Merritt
Support Vulnerable First-Time Pregnant Mothers
and Their Babies
Welcome to Global Grandmothers Walk the Walks program. We walk and donate to children in need.
Please join the San Francisco Bay Area chapter's second Walk the Walk! We will walk 3 miles around Lake Merritt. Lake Merritt, built in 1870, sits in the heart of the city of Oakland. See stunning reflections of elegant old and new city structures and enjoy the many recreational options surrounding the lake while supporting Nurse-Family Partnership. The Oakland Museum, Fairyland, the Rotary Natural Science Center and various restaurants are in the neighborhood and available as after-walk activites.
We are walking in support of Nurse-Family Partnership. NFP is an evidence-based community health program that helps transform the lives of vulnerable mothers pregnant with their first child. Independent research shows that every dollar invested in Nurse-Family Partnership can yield over five dollars in return.
This is a largely level, paved path, perfect for walkers of all ages.
Please join us in exercise, conversation and support of a worthy cause.
