IGS Energy has a history of being a forward-thinking leader in the retail natural gas industry. Their decision to build a new corporate headquarters was an essential next step in accommodating growth and reaffirming the value placed on energy efficiency and natural gas solutions. Additionally, the project reflects their commitment to employees and the community by providing a healthy, energy efficient building that fosters a spirit of teamwork and customer service.

The new IGS Energy home lies on a 16-acre site in scenic Dublin, Ohio. The 105,000-square-foot building provides a leading-edge work environment for more than 200 employees, with ample room for future employee and customer growth.

With a sharp focus on environmental and energy efficiency, the new IGS Energy building was designed with hopes of achieving the highest standards for efficiency. Application for Platinum LEEDŽ certification – the highest of the four LEED certification ratings – is currently under review. Once verified, it will be the only LEED Platinum-certified facility of its size and scale in Ohio.

Five key principles essential to LEED certification were incorporated into the building’s design and construction: sustainable site development, water savings, energy efficiency, materials selection, and indoor environmental quality. Some features that promote energy efficiency and sustainability include:

  • Preferred parking for low-emission, fuel-efficient vehicles
  • On-site, renewable energy sources and technologies that use 42 percent less energy than standard buildings
  • 93 kW solar photovoltaic system on the roof that saves 7.7 percent in overall electricity costs
  • High-efficiency plumbing fixtures that reduce water use by 20 to 30 percent
  • Recycled building materials
  • Indoor air quality monitoring during all stages of construction and occupancy

In addition to its LEED-certified features, the state-of-the-art facility’s unique design and contemporary layout encourage employee productivity and collaboration, including a full-service employee cafeteria with indoor/outdoor dining, an enlarged professional data center, and a high-capacity print center.

The main lobby’s highly unique, four-story rock wall sculpture boldly demonstrates the concept of the Earth’s natural forces acting on each other to generate and store natural gas, while strategically placed communications throughout the building showcase natural gas industry highlights and help tell the IGS Energy story.
