Creative Problem Solving Workshop 

Workshop Description:

Across personal and professional pursuits, we face many problems that lack a clear solution approach and leave us feeling stuck. In this workshop, you will learn an easy-to-use, research-informed technique of "encoding connections" to enhance your creative problem-solving ability. The workshop will be conducted in an active and interactive format to enhance learning outcomes.

In this workshop, participants will:

  • Gain an understanding of the approach of "encoding connections" to improve creative problem-  solving.
  • Learn a specific technique for enhancing the creative process.
  • Explore how "encoding connections" can be applied in real-world domains.
About the Instructor

Kenneth J. Kurtz, Ph.D., is Associate Professor of Psychology at Binghamton University (SUNY).  As a cognitive scientist, Dr. Kurtz studies the mechanisms underlying thinking and learning in humans and machines.  His areas of expertise include concept formation, transfer of knowledge, analogical thinking, and neural network modeling.
