The 2016 NYSARC, Inc. Fall Meeting will be held at the Hilton Albany in Albany, New York from October 20-22, 2016.  Meeting highlights,Hotel registration , meal information is contained within the details below. This year, we are asking all attendees to register by clicking on the Register Now button which is located below.  

Hotel Registration Information

All Board of Governor representatives and Committee Chairpersons will have their room and meal charges paid for by the NYSARC, Inc. State Office according to the reimbursement policy adopted by the Board of Governors. All other expenses must be paid individually.  We also urge, where possible, using double occupancy. 

Please click here to make your hotel reservation online.  The hotel cutoff date is Friday, September 30, 2016 for the room block.

You must also bring the appropriate tax-exempt certificate when checking into the hotel.

Meal ATTENDEE Information

Please note that the hotel room rate DOES NOT include all meals.  When you register for the meeting, ALL attendees MUST indicate in the Meal Attendee box which meals you will be attending.  Board of Governors will continue to have their meal charges waived but still must register for all meals attending. All other attendees will need to purchase and order meals under the noted box.

6:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. - Keynote Speaker - H.R. "Rud" Turnbull, is a native New Yorker and a parent of a son who was born in 1967 with an intellectual disability and autism. Mr. Turnbull has argued that the true wellbeing of people with intellectual disabilities depends on the convergence of factors including human development, public policy and the law, technology and ethics.  He will speak on how these factors provide a model for thinking about and developing public policy to effectively enhance the lives and dignity of the people we serve.

"#bFair2DirectCare - Making the Most Out of Our Workforce Advocacy" - NYSARC has partnered with other major developmental disability organizations in New York State to advocate for a living wage for Direct Support Professionals and other direct care staff.  Key to our advocacy success will be the grassroots involvement of Chapter leaders, families, employees, and the people that we support.  Join us to share best practices and talk with organizational leaders and public affairs experts about how you can maximize the impact of your advocacy activities.

"Managing Nonprofit Risk in an Unstable Environment" - Join us for a discussion about the troubling financial environment facing nonprofit human service providers in New York and the steps that board members and Executive leadership can take to understand and address the risk factors confronting their Chapters.

Presenters will include: John MacIntosh, Partner, SeaChange Capital Partners, and co-author of "Risk Management for Nonprofits"; and NYSARC Chapter Executive Directors Jack Campbell, Susan Limongello, Stanfort Perry and Barbara Wale.
