Ministry Leadership Day 2014

Ministry Leadership Day is a day to bring together pastors (lead, associate), church leaders (elders, deacons), ministry directors (e.g. children, men, women, youth, seniors, education, etc.), worship leaders, missions leaders, academics, and others, to engage in conversations about all kinda of facets relating to church life and ministry.

This year we have chosen to address the ongoing seeming bifurcation of "worship" and preaching. How many times have we heard a line like, "That was great worship. Now it is time for the preaching of God's Word."? The title for the day is "The Same Page Conference: Worship That Transforms Through Preaching and Music." We want to talk about the transformational acts of worship that are found in the music, Scripture reading, prayer, testimony, preaching, ordinances, and more, that make up a worship service. We have brought together Dr. John Witvliet from Calvin College who has written and taught widely in the whole domain of the theology of worship, along with Dr. Rick Reed, president of Heritage College & Seminary, who, as an outstanding preacher, will help us think through preaching as worship. The day will also include some workshops, and some Q & A throughout the day, that will allow the conversation to be engaged by the day's attendees.

Our goal is to bring together everyone who has a stake in the worship life of the church: musicians, preachers, worship service participants, church leaders, and the folks who attend and participate in worship as others lead. Join us on Friday, March 21, for what promises to be an engaging and fruitful day.

Workshops #1 and #2 have now reached capacity. If you have not yet registered for the Ministry Leadership Day, but would still like to come, you will automatically be placed in Workshop #3 ("Worship and Culture" with Dr. John Witvliet).

Special Note for Pastor's Wives:

Pastor's wives have the option of attending the Ministry Leadership Day, or going for lunch and a breakout session with Lori Stairs (wife of Jonathan Stairs, pastor of Temple Baptist Church) and Linda Reed (wife of Rick Reed, President of Heritage). Linda writes: "We want to provide an opportunity for rest and renewal with other pastors' wives. Our time together will include lunch, giveaways, teaching, and small group interaction. We'll meet together at the Leadership Day for worship and then get away together."
