Run For Dreams 5K Sponsor Page

A World For Children cordially invites you to participate as a Sponsor of the agency’s 1st Annual Run For Dreams 5K and Family Fun Run.  “Run For Dreams” is a statewide effort and we are having a race in all 12 regions across the State, with three goals in mind:

  • increase awareness of the impact of child abuse in the communities we serve;
  • recruit new foster parents and volunteers to join in the fight against the cycle of child abuse; and
  • raise funding for our summer camp for teens.

Why are we “running for dreams?”  It is our mission to teach all of the youth we serve, especially our teens, to learn to dream and focus on the means of reaching that dream.  Many of the children we serve have faced such extreme obstacles in life that they have gone into a survival mode and just “get by.”  They never think that they can be something; they believe that is reserved for others, not foster kids.  We say, “No!”  It is their time to shine and we are the ones that are going to lead them to that end.  The proceeds of this event will go to our summer camp, which is designed to motivate, inspire and train our teens to make a new life for themselves and to stop the cycle of abuse.

For those of you that are unfamiliar with A World For Children, we are a faith based, non-profit child placing agency licensed by the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services to provide foster care and adoptive services for abused and neglected children, ages birth to 18 years.  The State’s investigative and removal agency, Child Protective Services (“CPS”), has some foster care homes but the level of care that some children require and the large number of children that must go into foster care, requires private agencies, funded by the State, to step in and license and train therapeutic families.  CPS investigates and removes children from their biological homes, and then agencies such as AWFC are called to place the children in foster homes.  Some of the children will not be able to return to their biological homes, so some of them will find an adoptive placement and their “forever home.”  We presently serve approximately 800 abused children in over 300 foster homes across the State of Texas.

As community leaders, please partner with us to lead these youth down a path to productive citizenship, rather than allowing them to fall victim to drugs, prostitution, prison, and the continual cycle of domestic violence.  Please sponsor these youth in one of the following categories:
