Alcohol & Drugs in the Workplace

Is your workplace prepared to deal with drug and alcohol abusers? According to OSHA, "The vast majority of drug users are employed, and when they arrive for work, they don't leave their problems at the door."

Facts:Alcohol and prescription drugs

  • Of the 17.2 million illicit drug users aged 18 or older in 2005, 12.9 million (74.8 percent) were employed either full or part time.
  • Between 10 and 20 percent of the nation's workers who die on the job test positive for alcohol or other drugs.
  • Industries with the highest rates of drug use are the same as those at a high risk for occupational injuries, such as construction, mining, manufacturing and wholesale.

Attend October's Sacramento Regional Safety Forum to learn how to keep your workplace and ALL employees safe at work.

What is the Sacramento Regional Safety Forum?

SRSF Logo Gif

Sacramento Regional Safety Forum (SRSF) is a monthly forum designed to assist those in the Sacramento Regional who have responsibility for the health, safety and well-being of their workplace and workforce.

SRSF is a morning meeting for safety people providing a great opportunity for networking and learning. Participants will be able to take part in an interactive, informative forum with subject experts, workers and employers to hear or share each other’s real-world experiences.

Join us for a greater understanding of safety & health in the workplace, how to develop and maintain it from those who know it, support from those who have been through it and receive the resources available to maintain it.

Forums are held the first Thursday of each month from 7:30am to 9:30am and include a continental breakfast, speaker presentation, Q & A time and/or topic break-out sessions, door prizes and resource materials.
