Drawing the Figure with Tony Ryder

Tony Ryder is a draftsman, painter, author and teacher. Coming from Sante Fe, New Mexico, Ryder is a renowned artist in Figure Drawing. Join us for this rare opportunity to study alongside a master instructor, who will take you through a week long program based on the methods and formulations he lives by. Live model and step-by-step drawing method.
The course will meet for 5 days, seven hours per day with an hour for lunch, six full working hours.
Each day is with a live model of which to demonstrate drawing from life and direct observation. The artist will spend the first two hours each morning in demonstration. This is extremely valuable for beginning students and return students to record this knowledge and see the direct application of the artist's methods.
Students will then spend the remaining time, working step by step to acheive the likeness of the model:
~Introduction to drawing materials and demonstration of envelope/block-in
~Block-in and Inner curve
~The principle of fullness and the elaboration of contour
~The elements of light and shade
~Shape of the shadow
~Modeling the form
