Horsemanship Clinic | Swanton, OH | October 12-13, 2019

Join us at WB Arena in Swanton, OH for a two-day Phil Haugen Horsemanship Clinic, October 12-13, 2019.

Our clinics focus on improving all aspects of your horsemanship knowledge and learning to understand why your horses react or respond in the manner that they do. Whether you are just starting out or are needing to fine tune your training methods, our clinics are designed to support your individual goals and skill level. Students will learn Level 1, 2 and 3 drills that will improve their performance in various disciplines of horsemanship. Here are just a few of the tasks that we seek to improve at our clinics:

- Lateral softness
- Vertical softness and collection
- Softness in the ribcage
- Eliminating stiffness and elevation of your horse’s head in a run
- Letting your horse move out naturally, but, collect and get round in its back when you take the slack out of your reins
- Smooth stops, turnarounds, lead departures, and turns
- Controlling your horse’s hindquarters
- Setting your horse up for a lead change
- Building your horse’s confidence daily
- Reinforcing good habits with correct repetitions daily

Communicating these exercises and manuevers in a way that your horse understands is the key to improving your horsemanship. This will, in turn, improve your success and your horse’s value.  It takes the same amount of effort to establish and reinforce a good habit as it does a bad habit. You need to know what you’re trying to accomplish and how to do that in a way that your horse understands.
