Stigma and shame are not unknown concepts to healthcare providers, particularly those speciality providers caring for persons with chronic illnesses, metabolic disorders, eating disorders, or medical weight management concerns.  The potency of that shame has a cruel way of chipping away at the most basic elements of common life; destabilizing bodies health and well-being, relationships, self-care, even the potentiality of joy.  While providers can often objectively parse causal or correlative elements within patient's own lives, what happens when the focus of the stigma comes from the other side of the couch? That is, what happens when WE are the ones with bias?  Participants will discuss the importance of bias awareness, bias acknowledgement as well as the effects of their acknowledgements in clinicial care settings.
