AK DOT&PF Panel

Summer is around the corner, and construction season is kicking off. Join SMPS Alaska for our May Luncheon featuring a panel of State of Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (AK DOT&PF) staff, and learn how to be at the forefront of AK DOT&PF projects before they hit the streets. Our panelists include personnel from the Central and Northern Region.

Learn More About Our Speakers:

Sharon L. Smith, PE is a licensed Engineer, a Certified Construction Contract Administrator, and the Chief of Contracts for the AK DOT&PF Central Region. She oversees the solicitation and award of Professional Services Agreements and Construction Contracts for Central Region Highways and Aviation, as well as Statewide Public Facilities, Statewide Materials, and the Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport. Sharon is a board member of the Society of Women Engineers, and prior to joining DOT, she worked in the private sector as a consultant, both locally and in Guam. She and her husband are the very proud parents of two sons, both of whom are currently college students.

Sarah Schacher, PE is a lifelong Alaskan and a Preconstruction Engineer for AK DOT&PF Northern Region. In her 15 years with AK DOT&PF, Sarah has held roles in construction and design, and was a design project manager for seven years prior to being appointed Northern Region's Preconstruction Engineer in 2016. Sarah holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the Univeristy of Alaska Fairbanks. She and her husband Dan like to spend their free time traveling and enjoying the outdoors.


Sean Baski, PE is a lifelong Alaskan and is currently a Design Project Manager for AK DOT&PF’s Highway Section. He has held several transportation engineering positions including at A.W. Murfitt Company, R&M Consultants, and Hammond Engineering as a partner. Sean began working for AK DOT&PF in 2010. He manages 10-20 highway projects with design and construction budgets totaling over $700M, which include some of the biggest projects in the state. Sean earned his Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Alaska Anchorage.
