                         "Next Generation Payer Strategy"

Thank you for your interest in the JCPH Forum on Wednesday, October 14, 2015 featuring Minalkumar Patel, MD, MPH, Senior Vice President and Chief Strategy Officer at
Horizon Blue Cross & Blue Shield

Dr. Patel is Senior Vice President and Chief Strategy Officer at Horizon BCBSNJ. In this newly-created position, his responsibilities include: the integration of strategic work throughout the enterprise; the development of business opportunities via a newly-formed Business Development function; a closer alignment of data analytics with the Strategy function; and the creation of a unit that serves as a liaison with the Blue Cross Blue Shield Association.

Previously, Dr. Patel was the CEO of Care Management International, an innovative care management company which he founded in 2006. CMI is a pioneer in applying the concept of business process outsourcing to the medical management industry, areas where Dr. Patel holds a national reputation. Prior to this, he has served in several executive roles: President and COO of Horizon Healthcare of New York, a 200,000 member subsidiary of Horizon BCBSNJ.

Dr. Patel’s care management expertise comes from being the Executive Medical Director for Quality Management and Clinical Innovations for Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey, where he was responsible for building Horizon’s comprehensive care management programs and leading the plan through the complex accreditation processes with NCQA and URAC. He is a board certified internist with a passion for quality improvement in healthcare. He has also served as the medical advisor for the New York Business Group on Health.
