The Cost of Caring:
Compassion Fatigue Workshop

Are you aware that your experience at work may be impacting
you
physically, emotionally and spiritually?

Compassion Fatigue is the profound exhaustion that we experience
from constantly giving of ourselves with few opportunities for restoration.

Each day, people like you struggle to function while in care giving
environments that present heart wrenching, emotional challenges.
This painful reality, coupled with first-hand experience, takes its toll
on everyone from full time employees to part time volunteers.

Eventually, there is a cost. Our world view may change, we may
become fearful, or distant. This experience is referred to as
Secondary Trauma –the impact on our lives from witnessing trauma
in the lives of others.

There is a ripple effect within agencies when there is so much need.
We constantly give, even when we are depleted. This leads to despair
and hopelessness for employees, volunteers and clients.  Alternatively,
when staff members are practicing healthy boundaries and personal growth,
there is also a positive ripple effect to health for clients.

In this workshop, you will:

  • learn to identify the ways that emotional, physical and spiritual
    distress are
    present in your life
  • learn warning signs in yourself and your workplace
  • begin to identify ways that you can take care of yourself at work
    and home
    so that you can thrive
  • start conversations to take back to your workplace - about how
    you can each
make a difference at  your workplace
  • we all care deeply about our clients – we want to positively impact
    them and
    our community
  • come and learn how you can begin the conversations and the process
