2022 GFWC SOUTHERN REGION CONFERENCE CALL 

 

Dear GFWC Southern Region Members,

I am so very excited to issue this official Call for our first meeting of the 2022-2024 administration, which will be held October 20-23 in scenic Jekyll Island, Georgia.  Please share this Call with your members and encourage them to attend.

Our very special guests will be our 2022-2024 GFWC International President, Deb Strahanoski, and GFWC President-elect, Suellen Brazil.  These two dynamic leaders will shine their light for GFWC and update us on happenings in our wonderful organization.  We'll also have greetings from the GFWC Officers within our Region.

The conference agenda is filled with presentations and workshops led by our GFWC and Region Chairmen and Committee members.  Topics to be covered include our Community Connection Initiatives, Legislation/Public Policy, Membership, Communications and Public Relations, Fundraising, and Leadership, with special recognition of our 2022 LEADS graduates.  Other presentations include the Junior Special Program and our Signature Project:  Domestic Violence and Prevention.  We will be supporting our Juniors with a  fundraiser they have planned to benefit the Safe Harbor Children's Center in Brunswick.  We will be providing more informtion on this event.  It is requested you dress like a mermaid and the donation charge is $15.00.   Also we look forward to our State Presidents and Directors of Junior Clubs sharing a "brag time" with us.

Jekyll Island is a state park, and there are numerous historical and ecological sites to visit.  Most of you will be arriving by car so we are encouraging everyone to carpool to activities away from our hotel.

The Board of Directors will meet and dine together off-site at Tortuga Jack's Restaurant Thursday evening.  On Friday, we will have a trolley tour of some of the historic houses on Jekyll Island followed by a luncheon.  Seating is limited, but you may want to explore the island on your own with your free time Friday afternoon.  The Sea Turtle Center and the Mosaic Museum are popular to tour.  And if your group is competitive there is a great miniature golf course just down the street.  The hotel has bicycles for rent and a rousing game of cornhole is always fun.  Friday night is State Night, and our Georgia ladies have been working very hard to make this year's conference a weekend of fun and Federation friendships.

Saturday is our businss session time.  In addition to all the great workshop presentations we will have a speaker from HOBY, and we are honored to have Suellen Brazil speak at our Saturday luncheon with Deb Strahanoski will be sharing her ideas with us at the Saturday dinner.  Sunday morning we finish our business and receive the invitation to the 2023 Southern Region Annual Meeting in Mississippi.

Due to limited meeting space (the hotel is going through some renovations) we will not be able to accommodate outside vendors.  But never fear, your Fundraising and Vendor Committee members are heading up some fun fundraising activities.  So bring lots of cash!  To make things even more exciting we are asking each state to bring two baskets or purses worth at least $50 for an opportunity drawing.  Also we are selling ads so check out the ad order form.

And best of all --- the mode of dress is "Tropical Business Casual."  No sequined dresses or high heels!

Step Two - When you click on the Register Now! button below the registration form will display.  All of the required fields have an asterisk beside them.  You will complete the registration form by entering the information into the fields. 

The middle section of the form is where you will purchase your meals by entering the number 1 in the quantity field beside each meal you want to buy.  The description and price of each meal displays in that meal block. 

Under the payment section you will see you have two options for payment-credit card or check. 

Then all you have to do is click the Register button and the system will process your registration and email you a confirmation.

DEADLINES

Deadline to register and purchase meals is September 30, 2022.  After September 330th there will be a late fee of $25.00 to register.  So Register Now!

Deadline to reserve your hotel room is September 19, 2022.
