Slow Food Midwest Regional Meeting 

 Join us in historic Milwaukee, Wisconsin for a regional gathering of Slow Food Chapter Leaders and Volunteers. Connect with fellow regional members, enhance leadership skills, and learn from each other as we share a weekend full of food and fun.

The weekend will include sessions on key Slow Food initiatives as unveiled at the National meeting last month as well as skill-building for Chapter leadership teams. We'll be joined by leaders of SFUSA, and Regional Governor Martha Davis Kipcak. On the registration page, please share any ideas you have for topics to be discussed.

Please reserve your place now for this exciting opportunity to learn together, and encourage your leadership team to join you.  

The weekend events run from Friday, October 11 at 5 pm to Sunday, October 13 at noon.  

Friday, October 11th

5 pm: Meet and socialize with members as everyone arrives.

6 pm: Chapter sharing time! Each chapter gets 7 minutes to share information about their Slow Food Chapter to the rest of the group! Highlight your successes and challenges! We'll discuss our similarities and differences and how we can work together.

8 pm: Film Showing and discussion. 

9 pm: (Optional) hit the town and some of our local favorite spots...or relax and get ready for Saturday!

Saturday, October 12th

8 am: Breakfast at the Newberry House

9 am: Discussions on Leadership Development, Food Justice, and Membership led by Jovan Sage of Slow Food USA and Regional Governor Martha Davis Kipcak.

12 pm: Soup & Salad lunch and time to explore the lakefront area of Milwaukee. Walking maps and tours will be provided by Slow Food WiSE board members.

2 pm: Additional discussions and learning opportunities including Ark of Taste and Biodiversity led by Jennifer Casey of Slow Food WiSE. 

6 pm: Brady Street Walking tour and dinner in downtown Milwaukee. 

10 pm: Return to the Newberry House/Hotels/Homes for relaxation time.

Sunday, October 13th

8 am: Breakfast at the Newberry House

9 am: Closing session and discussion on how we can move forward

11 am: Goodbyes!

Optional Activities on Sunday:

Growing Power Urban Agriculture Tour at 1 pm.

There is a $50 flat fee for each person that attends.  This covers food and meeting expenses.  

We have reserved the Newberry House for the weekend.  A beautiful old mansion a few blocks from Lake Michigan. The mansion will serve as our meeting space for the weekend, and also provides 8 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms for up to 15 guests. The shared space offers an affordable option for those needing a place to stay.  There are a variety of options available.  The costs listed are per person and includes both nights.
