Applying Conservation Psychology  Theory & Practice

Thank you for your interest in our second webinar in our Engaging Conservation Psychology for Effective Action free webinar series!

This interactive webinar will offer a chance for you to hear from past Conservation Psychology Institute participants about how they are applying Conservation Psychology theory to practice. Each presenter will discuss specific projects & initiatives that benefited from their work at the Institute.

Conservation psychology theory and practice can help to more effectively design programs, craft messages, and engage individuals and organizations in conservation, sustainability and climate change action.

Presenter: Dr. Kim Langmaid, Founder, Vice President , and Director of Sustainability & Stewardship Programs for Walking Mountains Science Center.

Dr. Kim Langmaid will discuss how she has applied information from the Conservation Psychology Institute into programs and projects at Walking Mountains Science Center, with a focus on the Climate Action Plan for the Eagle County Community.  She will also share examples from Walking Mountains' interpretive naturalist programs and graduate fellowship program.

Presenter: Amy Weidensaul, Director of Community Conservation and Education for Audubon Pennsylvania

Amy Weidensaul will be sharing how Audubon Pennsylvania has integrated what their team learned during the Conservation Psychology Institute into their programs.  She plans to highlight: 1) the development of new assessment tools Audubon is using in their education programs; 2) the development of student driven learning through after-school environmental clubs; and 3) the creation of a natural playground for young children at an Audubon Center.
