Camp Celebration
CALLING ALL STUDENTS!!!
We would like to offer you the opportunity to earn volunteer hours while helping kids make the best of their summer camp experience.
Blue Mountain Camp in Hamburg offers everything from hiking and fishing to swimming and arts and crafts.
The Camp runs June 17-August 8th for 7 consecutive weeks, rain or shine. We have an end of camp festival the week of August 4th where we invite kids from all the clubs to join together and celebrate the end of summer with camp awards, competitions and a cookout.
A: Absolutely! Keep a close track of your hours and we will fill out the appropriate paperwork for you to hand back in at school…not to mention a great letter of recommendation!
A: No problem! We understand you have commitments and hope you still consider volunteering on days you’re free. You can choose to volunteer consecutively for one week or pick your days throughout the summer…whatever works best for you!
“Blue Mountain Camp gives kids from the city an opportunity for an authentic Summer Camp experience. For most of our club members this IS their Summer Vacation”
–Pat Shields, Past Chairman
1. Meet at the Oakbrook Olivet Club at 1161 Pershing Blvd. by 8:30 am weekday mornings.
2. Ride the bus to one of the eight clubs where you then pick up the kids. Head up to the camp which is about a 30 minute ride. The bus ride alone is a great time to interact and have fun with the kids.
3. Wear your play clothes & sneakers. Bring a bathing suit, towel, sun tan lotion, lunch and extra water. (It gets hot and you’ll need to stay hydrated)
4. Play with the kids! These kids are ages 6-14 and are happy, energetic and fun! They will love to have “big kids” like you to play with. Professional Adult Counselors will be in charge and will direct and supervise the volunteers.
5. Get on the bus around 3:00pm for the ride home. The bus drops the kids off first and you ride back to Oakbrook arriving between 3:30pm – 4:00pm.
6. If you choose to drive yourself you can. Be at the camp by 9:30 am and wait for the bus to arrive (1540 Mountain Rd Hamburg, PA 19526). Please advise most navigation systems do not recognize the address.
