Tables of 8

Fellowship, fun and food!

Sharing a meal together is a great way to get to know others at MIPC! Simply sign up for evenings that would generally work for you, and then we will place everyone into groups of eight with others who are available on the same evening.

As a group, you will decide the particular dates you meet - once a month for three months - and whether you want the dinners to be potluck, themed, etc., and where you will meet.

If you are willing to help coordinate your Table of 8, please indicate that on the registration.  That would involve sending out emails and hosting the first meal.

Please register by clicking on the green "Register Now" button below.  Registration open through June 17.

  1. What is Tables of 8?
Tables of 8 is a great way to get to know your church family better and to meet folks from church that you may not already know. The emphasis is on fun and fellowship. Groups of 8 persons get together once a month for three dinners: November/December, January, and February.  You plan and then share meals at participants’ homes, or wherever the group decides, such at a restaurant, or even at the church.
  2. How does Tables of 8 work?
Simply register below or sign up by email:  marlab@mipc.org.  Please indicate ALL evenings that would generally work for your schedule.  Once groups are formed, a Group Coordinator will be selected for each group. The Group Coordinator will contact members to arrange the details for the first gathering.
  3. What does a Group Coordinator do?
This is the point person for the Group. The Group Coordinator contacts group members to select the location, date, and food sign-ups for the first gathering.
  4. Who cooks the meals?
It's potluck!  Usually the host will make the main dish, and other participants will bring coordinating sides or desserts.  Consider picking a dinner "theme" (i.e. Italian night, backyard barbeque, soup night, etc.), and everyone can bring a dish that goes along with that theme.
  5. I don't have room to host a dinner, or I really can't cook!
You don’t need to be a gourmet cook!  We want everyone to feel that they can participate.  If you feel that you don’t have room to host in your home, your group may choose to repeat a host home, eat out, or schedule dinner at the church (check availability first).
  6. How are the Tables of 8 groups formed?
As Tables of 8 groups are formed, our goal will be to put people together so that each group has eight adults, taking into account the preferences for the evening that you indicated. Groups may be comprised of couples and singles.  It all depends on who signs up. The mystery is part of this ministry's excitement!
  7. What happens after our last gathering?
Hopefully you will have had a rewarding experience and look forward to similar experiences at MIPC.
