Mission New Mexico 5K and Fun Run 

This is a fun, family friendly event created to raise money for Mission New Mexico. The monies raised will go to causes like Disaster Relief, Hunger Relief, and Adoption Services in our state. The flat, loop course in Berg Park has varying surfaces and loops through trees and over wooden bridges along the Animas River in Farmington, NM.  Age group and Overall awards given for best chip timing durations.

Race Day Information
Please Note:  There is race-day registration.  However, all pre-registered participants are encouraged to pick  up their event packets at a packet pick- up.  Late registrants m ay not receive T-Shirt and other give aways.

All participants who would like to be entered in the results and be eligible for awards must wear a timeing chip bib.

Parking
There is plenty of parking in the lott off Scott Avenue.

Start Information
Events start near the pavilion area.  Allow plenty of time to get to the Start in order to seed yourself according to your projected pace time.  This race is a Gun Start with a Timing Chip Finish.  The “official time” will start when the gun/horn is sounded.

Race (Bib) Number Requirements
Each participant will receive a Race (Bib) number that must be worn on race day.  DO NOT alter your race number in any way.  Your bib number must be visible and worn on the front outside of all clothing during the entire race so that it may be clearly seen.  Bib numbers are non-transferable and MUST be worn by the runner to whom it is assigned.

Medical Support
Medical staff members will be ready to assist you at any time.  Race Staff will be positioned at stations along the course.  Race event officials have the right to withdraw any runner from the race that appears in distress or at risk.  If you have a health or medical problem at the Finish Line, please notify event officials or volunteers.  Please cooperate if you are asked to go for a checkup.  If you are unable to finish the race for any reason please notify a race official of your bib number so that the medical personnel are aware.

Finishing Information
The overall and division award winners will be announced at the Awards Ceremony on race day immediately following the race at 6:00 pm.

5 K: Overall prizes will be awarded to the top three men and women determined by gun time.  Age group prizes will be given to the top finisher in the following categories for men and women:  19 and under, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-69, 70+  Award times will be determined by gun time.

FAQ
Can I run with my phone running app or GPS device?  Yes, participants may use these devices.  However, these items do not count as “second timing devices” and will not be recognized by the event as official times or distances.

What is not allowed on the course? The use of wheeled devices by participants is not allowed, including skateboards, rollerblades, unauthorized bicycles, or strollers.

If I am injured and/or cannot run the event (family commitment, work obligation, etc.).  Can I get a refund or donate my entry or transfer my entry to someone else?  No.  Sale and/or transfer of race entry/bib are strictly prohibited and will result in the disqualification of individuals involved.  All entry fees are non-refundable and cannot be deferred toward a future event.

What happens in the event of inclement weather? Weather forecasts will be monitored prior to the event paying special attention to the possibility of heavy rain, thunder and lightning, high winds and extreme temperatures.  If necessary, athletes will be made aware of these predictions on the BCNM website:  www.bcnm.com/MissionNM5K  so that participants can properly prepare for severe weather during the race as well as possible course alterations.  Severe weather updates will also be sent to participants via email as necessary.  The race director will monitor the weather and make a decision if any action will be taken to modify the race.

Please read the Release Form for the Missions 5K.  As part of your registration, please indicate that you have read and agree to the terms outlined below.

In consideration for being permitted by the organizers of the Mission New Mexico 5K & Fun Run/Walk to participate in the above activity, I hereby waive, release, and discharge any and all claims for damages for personal injury, death or property damage which may have, or which may hereafter accrue to me, as a result of participation in said activity. This release is intended to discharge in advance the organizers of Mission New Mexico 5K & Fun Run/Walk (its officers, employees, volunteers, and agents) from any participation in said activity, even though that liability may arise out of negligence or carelessness on the part of the persons or entities mentioned above. It is understood that this activity involves an element of risk and danger of accidents and knowing those risks I hereby assume those risks. It is further agreed that this waiver, release and assumption of those risks is to be binding on my heirs and assigns. I agree to indemnify and to hold the above person or entities free and harmless from any loss, liability, damage, cost or expense which they may incur as the result of my death or any injury or property damage that I may sustain while participating in said activity. PARENTAL CONSENT: (TO BE COMPLETED AND SIGNED BY PARENT/GUARDIAN IF APPLICANT IS UNDER 18 YEARS OF AGE). I hereby consent that my son/daughter ______________________, participate in the above activity, and I hereby execute the above Agreement, Waiver, and Release on his/her behalf. I state that said minor is physically able to participate in said activity. I hereby agree to indemnify and hold the persons and entities mentioned above free and harmless from any loss, liability, damage, cost, or expense which they may incur as a result of the death or any injury or property damage that said minor may sustain while participating in said activity.
