You're Invited! We will be holding a joint meeting and info session between CRA (Colorado Roofing Association) and RCI (Institute of Roofing, Waterproofing, & Building Envelope Professionals) to provide an educational seminar regarding air and vapor barrier design for roofing, including a discussion of condensation concerns and an update on the proposed amendments to the Green Roof Initiative (GRI).

This half-day seminar will familiarize attendees with the proposed amendments to the Denver Green Roof Initiative, particularly the proposed cool roof requirement, followed by an in-depth presentation regarding air/vapor barriers in roofing systems to manage condensation and provide a high-functioning roofing system.

Learning objectives include:

Provide general update on proposed amendments to the Green Roof Initiative (GRI)
Provide practical and common sense definitions for air barriers and vapor retarders.
Learn how moisture control is beneficial to a roof system and recognize how vapor control is directly tied to the control of air movement
Discuss the different types of common AB / VR, how they’re installed, and practical installation details.
Discuss what codes and local policies do and don’t require.
Provide a practical examination of installations to show common errors and misunderstandings about AB / VR installation.
Look at how AB / VR approaches vary according to the type of construction; such as concrete, steel, and wood decks, and occupancies.
Understand the negative effects and consequences when moisture and vapor control is VE’d out of the design.
