14th Annual MultiFaith Banquet: Family of Faiths 

Our 14th Annual Banquet features an optional Buddhist meditation, faith storytelling, a youth game event, food catered by the Grape Leaf Diner (vegetarian and meat options), Heroes of Compassion, Compassion Photo Contest finalists and Guest Speaker Imam Hendi, founding President of Clergy Beyond Borders.

Program Schedule:

  • 3:00 PM - Optional Buddhist Meditation and Campus Tours
  • 4:00 PM - Faith Storytellers / Youth - Young Adult MultiFaith Game
  • 5:00 PM - Welcomes, Heroes of Compassion, Photo Contest Winners
  • 5:30 PM - Islamic Prayers / Catered Dinner
  • 6:00 PM - Speaker - Imam Hendi of Clergy Beyond Borders; Q & A
  • 6:55 PM - Sending Forth

Youth Event

Youth and young adults will have a meet & greet at 4 PM and play a MultiFaith Game.  If they wish to attend the banquet aftrewards, they must register.

Faith Storytelling

Stories from several faiths, including classic Hindu dance, will be presented instead of our usual displays.  There will be a literature table.  Faith groups are invited to share a one-page document about their faith tradition.

Guest Speaker:

Imam Hendi

Imam Yahya Hendi is the Muslim chaplain at Georgetown University, the first American University to hire a full-time Muslim chaplain. He is a Public Policy Conflict Resolution Fellow of the Center for Dispute Resolution of the University of Maryland School of Law and the Maryland Judiciary's Mediation and Conflict Resolution Office. Imam Hendi is the founder and the President of Clergy Beyond Borders, and the founder and the president of the newly founded organization, Imams for Universe Dignity, Human Rights and Dialogue.

Imam Hendi often visits and lectures at churches and synagogues hoping to create a new positive relationship between the followers of the three Abrahamic religions. In his lectures, Imam Hendi focuses on issues related to gender relations, domestic violence, world peace, social, economic and political justice, and inter-religious and interfaith issues.
