ABOVE LEFT:  Carole Yates believes it's important to wake up every day with a reason to “be.”One of her reasons is to help people reduce energy use and understand they can live a high quality life and be easy on the environment.  Her home uses solar hot water and solar electric systems. She bikes to work many days of the year which is a great way to notice and appreciate the world.

ABOVE RIGHT:  Someone said we teach what we most want to learn. Susan Salterberg thinks that’s true for her. She wants peace, contentment, and good relationships with friends and family.  She wants to focus on experiences instead of stuff, and she's passionate about creating a better world for future generations—and a better quality of life for our generation! Here's she is with two sisters on RAGBRAI.
