Feverfew harvest - photo by Agnes Cwalina
Our ancestors have used plants for generations as preventative medicine and to treat ailments. Join Agnes Cwalina, owner of Hori Hori Flowers, for an introduction to plants you may cultivate to start your own herbal medicine chest. Teas, tinctures, salves, and poultices will be covered alongside several easy to grow plants that are suitable for our climate.
Agnes left New York City for Seattle in 2010 and started volunteering with garden organizations focused on food growing. While moving from apartment to apartment her stash of seeds followed and lettuce or herbs were always growing in available nooks. Once convinced of living in the mild climate of the PNW, the search for her own garden began. She now spends her time advocating for the local floral industry, maintaining gardens around the city, and growing food for those with limited access to fresh produce. She also owns Hori Hori Flowers, an urban cut flower garden and studio in White Center focusing on seasonal blooms and unique textures. Follow her along at www.instagram.com/horihoriflowers.
