At the completion of the program the participant will be able to:
1. Identify the new oral anticoagulants and know their indications for use
2. Describe the differences between the new anticoagulants versus Warfarin and the clinical implications of such
3. Describe the steps in patient selection, initiation and selection of a specific ER/LA opioid therapy and appropriate discontinuation
4. Identify the current Abuse Deterrent Formulations (ADF) and the various novel opioid pain medications
5. Describe the appropriate tools for patient monitoring, compliance and adherence to a chronic opioid therapy program as part of a chronic pain management program
6. Discuss current guidelines in asthma therapy and new asthma medications
7. Discuss how to effectively manage asthma therapy and the alternative options for severe persistent asthma
8. Describe the complexity of good bone health
9. Identify the pros and cons of new medications available to promote good bone health
10. Describe the current pharmacological options for treatment of Type 2 Diabetes
11. Discuss the expected effects and indications for use of recently introduced medications for treatment of Type 2 Diabetes
12. Discuss the process of medication management during shared medical appointments
13. Describe the benefits of shared medical appointments when dealing with chronic illness
14. Identify unmet needs of the selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor antidepressant treatments
15. Discuss the clinical relevance of dual reuptake inhibitors
16. Discuss the important factors in a weight loss program
17. Apply the strategies of these factors to a specific weight loss patient

Continuing Education Credits:
-The Fort Wayne Medical Education Program is accredited by the Indiana State Medical Association to provide continuing medical education for physicians.
-Application for CME credit has been filed with the American Academy of Family Physicians. Determination of credit is pending.
-The Fort Wayne Medical Education Program designates this live activity for a maximum of 8.0 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits.  Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
