ICE Holds and Detention of Undocumented Immigrants

HIV/ AIDS

What happens when an undocumented person is arrested, and placed on an ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) hold? If that individual is taken into ICE custody, where will they be held and how can their family, attorney, or other advocate secure their
release? This training session focuses on the rights of undocumented immigrants who are arrested and placed on ICE holds, and how their advocates can best assist them. This training also addresses several of the key problem areas, such as access undocumented immigrants have to attorneys once in detention, so-called “stipulation agreements,” and the human rights implications of our immigration policies with respect to the undocumented population.

Objectives:

  • To introduce individuals unfamiliar with the immigration system the process involved when an individual without documents is placed in custody by local or federal athorities.
  • To give those participating in the training basic information that will aid them if a client or family member is picked up by immigration.
  • Make the training attendees better aware of the difficulties and challenges faced by undocumented community members.

Cost: $40.00
