Note: Ted Wright, who was scheduled to speak, is unable to attend the conference this year.  We are very excited and grateful that Henry B. Smith, Jr. will be joining us.

Speakers

  Henry B. Smith, Jr. 

Henry B. Smith Jr. is the Director of Development for Associates for Biblical Research (ABR), a Christian apologetics ministry dedicated to demonstrating the historical reliability of the Bible through archaeological and biblical research. Henry graduated with a B.A. in Economics from Rutgers University in 1992. With a 13 year sales and management background, he earned an M.A. in Theology with an emphasis on Apologetics from Trinity Seminary in Indiana, graduating with high honors in 2005. In the fall of 2014, he graduated from the M.A.R. program at Westminster Theological Seminary.

Henry also serves as the managing editor of Bible and Spade magazine, published by ABR. He is also the Administrative Director of the Khirbet el-Maqatir (the city of Ai in Joshua 7-8) archaeological excavations in Israel, and also works there as a square supervisor. Henry worked as a volunteer at the biblical excavations at Hazor (Joshua 11) in 2007. He is an adjunct professor for archaeological courses for the Institute for Creation Research’s School of Online Biblical Apologetics and is an adjunct professor for God’s Bible College, Ohio. Henry has published numerous articles for ABR’s website (www.BibleArchaeology.org) and Bible and Spade and has spoken at dozens of churches about archaeology and apologetic evidences that show the reliability of the Bible.

Henry lives in eastern Pennsylvania with his wife Birzavit and his daughter, Ava.
 

Henry's topics are "Digging for the Truth: How Archaeology Helps Defend the Bible Against Critics" and "Did the Israelite Conquest Really Happen?  A Brief Overview of the Archaeology of Jericho and Ai".  

 


Kristen Davis

Kristen has a Bachelors of Science in Religion (Summa Cum Laude) from Liberty University and a Masters of Arts in Christian Apologetics (Highest Honors) from Biola University. Kristen is an Assistant Professor of Apologetics at Houston Baptist University and an Adjunct Professor of Ethics at Southeastern University's Jacksonville campus. She teaches classes at various churches around Jacksonville, including Mandarin Presbyterian, Chets Creek and her home church, The Church of Eleven22. Kristen did her Master's thesis with Biola University on the religious artifacts of Tel Dan (Tel el-Qadi) during the Late Bronze and Early Iron ages, to see how the religious archaeological remains relate to the Biblical conquest account.

Kristen is Systems Integration Engineer at Sungard AvantGard.  She is the Founder of DoubtLess Faith Ministries, an Associate of Associates for Biblical Research, a member of the Evangelical Philosophical Society and the International Society of Women in Apologetics, as well as the Co-Founder of the Ratio Christi Chapter at UNF.

  Kristen's topics are  "The Resurgence of Paganism" and "Old Testament: History or Hoax?  An Archaeological Survey". 

 

Julie Miller

Julie serves  on the Ratio Christi board of directors as well as chapter director and chaplain of Ratio Christi at Rutgers University.  She earned a Master of Arts in Christian Apologetics from Biola University and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and Finance from Texas A&M University.  She has a certification from the Cross Examined Instructors Academy and attended the Discovery Institute CS Lewis Fellows Program on Science and Society.  She is  currently pursuing her Doctor of Philosophy in Humanities at Faulkner University’s Great Books Honors College. Julie is interested in equipping Christians and engaging skeptics with the best answers to the objections to Christianity.  Julie lives in New Jersey with Buzz, her husband of 30 years.  They have two sons, Cameron and Noah. 


Julie's topics are "Jesus, the smartest man who ever lived" and "Engaging Religious Pluralism".

 

Ray Ciervo  

Ray Ciervo has 40 years of ministry as pastor, teacher and apologist.   He attended a Bible school in Brooklyn, NY and in 1974, was ordained and sent to help establish a church in central New Jersey, where he discipled many and led an association of churches. In 2002, he graduated summa cum laude at Southern Evangelical Seminary with a master of arts in apologetics (MAA). Currently he is finishing his Doctor of Ministry (D.Min.) degree in apologetics.  Ray travels and ministers internationally, earning over 150 stamps in his passport.  Locally, he presents seminars called ,"No Pat Answers", free of charge, three times a year at Long Branch Covenant Church in Long Branch, NJ. He is the organizer and founder of The New Jersey Christian Apologetics Conference.  He is married to the wonderful and encouraging, Joanne and has 3 children, 7 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.

Ray's topics are "Mastering Everyday Apologetics" and "Confirmation for the Gospel".
