“Description of Performance Based Design Methodology and Peer Review Process in the City of San Diego”
Presentation Abstract:
Presentation will include: a case study of a recently constructed high rise tower utilizing the Performance Based Design approach, discussion of recently approved PBD projects in San Diego, and scheduling of the Peer Review and review process for approval by the City of San Diego.
Speaker Bio:
Jim DesRoches, is a senior engineer and quality manager with 25 years of construction supervision experience and 27 years of structural design experience, including design in reinforced concrete, post–tensioned concrete, masonry, structural steel, woodframe, and heavy timber. He is a project engineer who is well known for his effective team leadership and engineering skills.
A specialist in the design of complex structural systems, Jim has earned a highly regarded reputation for his experience in seismic design and project management for commercial and residential high-rise buildings, institutional buildings, and specialty structures. Jim also manages our US operations, which includes many large projects in the Western United States, and most recently managing peer reviews for Performance Based Design in San Diego and Los Angeles.
Jim serves as quality manager for the company’s registration to the ISO 9001:2008 standard for quality management and the coordination of system improvements.
