Beth Shalom will be transformed into the world of theHunger Games with programs for all ages beginning with dinner at 6:00 p.m. (pre-registration only required for those attending the dinner).
At 7:00 p.m., Anna Katz, Administrative Coordinator of Grassroots cold weather shelters, will speak to us about human rights, hunger, and other issues seen firsthand at the Grassroots Crisis Intervention Center. All are welcome.
Our youth activity for the evening will a Shabbat friendly and age appropriate "tribute ranking." The trials will cover 5 areas: Bravery, Accuracy, Speed, Patience, and Survival. May the Challah be ever in your favor.
Tot Shabbat with Cantor Alan Rubinstein at 7:00 p.m. in the Sanctuary
During Shabbat services beginning at 8:00 p.m., Rabbi Grossman will speak about "The Rabbi's Guide to Hunger Games: What Hunger Games teaches us about Jewish values and what Jewish values teach us about HungerGames."
Dinner for the evening will be dairy from Moti's Market in Rockville. There is a fee for dinner. All other programs are free and open to the entire community.
This program is a recognized participant in Human Rights Shabbat. Human Rights Shabbat is a T'ruah initiative to educate Jewish communities about the intersection of Jewish values and universal human rights.
