California CDFI CU Roundtable: Ontario, CA

The National Federation of Community Development Credit Unions, the California and Nevada Credit Union Leagues, and CUNA Mutual Group are pleased to invite you to a discussion of the Community Development Financial Institutions Fund and the benefits of CDFI designation for your institution!

The CDFI-certified credit union industry is growing -- with 261 CDFI certified credit unions with collective assets of $50 billion providing services to 6 million primarily low-income consumers and financially underserved communities. With more than 60 low-income credit unions in the state, our industry could become the dominant type in the CDFI field and as a result, have better chances to access grant funding. From its inception in 1996, the CDFI Fund has awarded $168 million to CA CDFIs (credit unions have only received $14 million of that). This one-day roundtable will explore topics such as:

  • Overview of CDFI certification requirements and the benefits it brings to credit unions
  • Identify needs in your community and learn how your credit union can respond
  • How to embrace the CDFI identity and develop a long term community development strategy
  • How to integrate your LMI strategy into your overall business strategy so your institution's core competencies are best leveraged
  • How successful credit unions develop and deploy payday alternative loan programs, small business loan programs, used vehicle loan programs, and immigration loan programs

You’ll also hear more about a special program offered by CUNA Mutual Group to financially assist eligible CUs during the CDFI certification application process.
