Health Equity in Rural Communties - Arapahoe County 

The South Metro Health Alliance is hosting a discussion in partnership with Tri-County Health Department and The Colorado Trust around health equity in rural communities of Arapahoe County, looking at the root causes of health inequities, plus challenges and opportunities for our community to consider.

Join us to better understand health equity and, in particular, health equity in rural communities of Arapahoe County.

The discussion will be led by Alyson Shupe, Informatics, Epidermiology and Health Planning Manager at Tri-County Health Department.

1. What are the root causes of health inequities in rural communities? Are they different from health inequities in urban or other geographic communities? Why?

 2. What are the biggest challenges and opportunities the Arapahoe County community faces in advancing health equity? Who needs to be involved to address these challenges and foster greater opportunities for health equity in rural communities?

 3. Examples in which a rural community addressed an issue related to health equity. What did they do? What strategies worked for them? What can be applied to our community?

 4. What is one initial step the Arapahoe County community can take to advance health equity in rural communities?
