“Church Practice - Whence Ministry?” 

Meeting 1 of this practice-based course, to be held at the Maine UCC Conference Center in Augusta, will examine emergent ministry practices. Meetings 2, 3, and 4, to be held at ministry practice sites across the state, will be devoted respectively to bi-vocational, neighborhood/community, and special population (homeless/marginalized) practices; at these meetings, mornings will feature a seminar, afternoons a site visit format. 

Instructor: Rev. Dr. Leslie Foley, BCC

Bio: A graduate of the University of Tennessee, Lancaster Theological Seminary, and Andover Newton Theological School, the Rev. Dr. Leslie Foley is a UCC Minister, Board Certified Chaplain and spiritual care educator. Currently serving as an on-call chaplain at Maine Medical Center and the Minister of Visitation at First Parish in Brunswick. Dr. Foley also preaches, teaches and provides spiritual care throughout the state of Maine. After graduating with a Masters in Divinity degree, Dr. Foley served as a chaplain resident at Yale-New Haven Hospital. Since her residency, Dr. Foley served as a chaplain and minister in a variety of health care and church settings. She is interested in worship and spiritual care, and a particular passion for teaching. Dr. Foley currently lives in Falmouth with her partner and the youngest of her three sons. She is an animal lover and enjoys gardening, reading, creating, walking, and spending time with her family and pets. Since 2005, Dr Foley and her chidren have attended the UCC Family Gathering I on Star Island, off the coast of NH. Combined these, these people, places and interests create a sense of balance and fullness in her life.
