This introductory course about the arts in ministry will show you how the arts can be a used to express and explore faith, connect with God, and do theology. You will learn how to integrate the arts in worship, preaching, faith formation, and other aspects of ministry through:
Course Schedule: Class will meet on one Saturday a month from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. at the Maine Conference, UCC Conference Center, 1 Weston Court, Suite 104, Augusta, ME.
Instructor: Rev. Dr. Alice Anderman
Rev. Anderman just retired from Winthrop Congregational Church United Church of Christ in Winthrop, Maine after 38 years of ministry in Maryland, Pennsylvania and Maine. Her interest in arts and theology and spirituality was rekindled on her sabbatical where she focused on theology, spirituality and the arts. Alice has led spirituality and arts programs at the Colby Art Museum where she is a docent and in communities and churches. She taught Arts and Ministry at Bangor Theological Seminary. Alice graduated from Millersville University with a BS in Art Education and received her Master of Divinity and Doctor of Ministry from Lancaster Theological Seminary in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. In her spare time she enjoys wheel thrown pottery. Alice is married to the Rev. Dr. David Anderman, Scholar in Residence at First Congregational Church United Church of Christ in Waterville.
This course is being offered as part of a Certificate in Christian Studies and Leadership Program currently in development by MESOM. All offerings of MESOM are open to all who have an interest in theological studies, and spiritual growth and development.
