Teacher-Child Interaction:  The Art of Teaching with Words

Check with your state or district to see if this webinar is approved for CEU credit!

The quality of teacher-child interactions is linked to positive child development and later achievement. One of the best ways to enhance these interactions is through the use of words.

Armed with a wide vocabulary, children will be better readers, they will be able to express their wishes and desires clearly, get others to pay attention to them, problem-solve, and most importantly, they will start to use critical thinking skills at a very young age.

Unfortunately, most teachers do not spend quality time on language and vocabulary building, and the yes/no loop has become the norm in the classroom.

Things are changing fast, however.  Recognition of this problem and solutions for addressing it are a key focus within early childhood education these days.  Head Start is now conducting routine language assessment and requiring higher quality interactions between teacher and student.  State-level programming and even child-care facilities are beginning to mandate that teachers place more emphasis on verbal skills.

Soon programs—and their teachers--that don’t achieve acceptable scores in this area may be threatened.

Hear from a federal Head Start reviewer how you can stay ahead of the curve by enhancing your skills in this vital area.  Register now for this AAFCS educational webinar (1.5 PDUs)
