From infants to Millennials to GenXers to Baby Boomers and even Boomer parents…..everyone is exposed to or using some form of electronic media:  social networks, the internet, mobile devices, gaming, laptops, and tablets.

Research indicates that our reliance on technology is a double-edged sword—it has the potential for immense benefits as well as great harm.   This much is clear—we must actively manage our use of technology.

Dr. Hoskins has examined the effects of technology on families and has developed recommendations that are helping families enhance their relationships and reduce conflict around technology usage.  She also will review how educators can be instrumental in helping students think about the effects  of technology on children.

In just 90 minutes, she will expand your knowledge on:

• The benefits and challenges of various kinds of media
• Successful approaches to parental monitoring of children’s media usage
• Steps parents can take to keep their children safe online
• How excessive usage can affect academic performance
The link to aggression in children, cyberbullying, and more

During this eye-opening webinar, you will discover dozens of new ways you can use technology to enhance feelings of togetherness.  You will see how simple it can be to employ technology to foster connections instead of driving a wedge between family members.

What amount of screen time is appropriate?  Hear what Dr. Hoskins has to say about usage and monitoring across different developmental ages—and then map out safe guidelines immediately for your family. Learn about the worrisome trends in sexting, pornography viewing, and the most recent picture sharing social app, SnapChat.

As part of the webinar, you will receive dozens of resources that educators, parents, and consumers can turn to for additional information and tools such as activities for family media use.  And you will learn about the latest research on the role of technology in romantic relationships, how it contributes to work/family conflict, and how to create reasonable rules with teenagers and engage them in the process of setting limits, and much more.

Our use of electronic devices will only increase in the years ahead—it is vital that FCS professionals keep current on appropriate use of technology.   Register now!
