2018 Bright Stars Event featuring

Naturalist Douglas Wood

This year's FREE event will take place on Sunday, November 4, 2018 and feature special guest, author, illustrator, musician and naturalist Douglas Wood.

As our special guest, Mr. Wood will share stories and songs, and inspire the audience with his story of going from the “worst reader in the class”, a painfully shy kid with ADHD and dyslexia, to a best-selling author and speaker.

This year's event is FREE and families are welcome to attend. Space is limited so register as soon as possible.

Mr. Wood will have shows at 2pm (this show is FULL) and 4pm.

This year's event will be held at Quarry Hill Nature Center, located 701 Silver Creek Rd NE, Rochester, MN 55906

Naturalist Douglas Wood

Douglas Wood is an author, artist, musician, naturalist, wilderness guide, and the creator of 35+ books for children and adults, with over two and a half million copies in print. He is also dyslexic.

His first book, Old Turtle, was hailed a “profound work” and an“instant classic.” Translated widely, it has received many honors. Other books are also award winners and N.Y. Times best sellers, including Grandad’s Prayers of the Earth and his humorous Can’t Do series.

Douglas Wood has read his books, narrated, and performed at the White House, New York’s famed Lincoln Center, and many other extraordinary venues across the country.

As a professional musician and song-writer, Doug is a virtuoso performer on 12-string guitar, mandolin, and banjo. He often performs his original “Earth Songs” with his Wild Spirit Band, which took 1st Runner-up at the MN. Bluegrass Association “Race for a Place” championship.

In his books and music, frequent speaking engagements, and far-flung wilderness expeditions, Douglas Wood continues to explore the relationship between the natural world and the human spirit.
